THE WHOLE EARTH IS FULL OF HIS GLORY

Isaiah 6:1-8; Key verse: 3

“And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Praise God for this historical 2023 ISBC with the theme ‘His Glory’!

It’s hard to believe that this is really happening! And we are all here in-person!

Since our last ISBC in 2018, our lives have seen many unimaginable changes.

Due to Covid, we could not travel.

Where did you long to go during Covid?

I longed for an in-person summer Bible conference!

This summer, we finally received an exciting royal invitation through this ISBC.

It’s about time we come together to meet our holy God and see His glory!

Tonight, we will see how God revealed His glory particularly to the prophet Isaiah in the temple.

This same God is cordially inviting each of us to meet Him tonight.

May He open our spiritual eyes to see His glory, experience His forgiveness, and respond to His glorious call!

Part 1. Holy, holy, holy, the whole earth is full of His glory (1-3).

Look at verse 1a.

“In the year that King Uzziah died,...”

The Prophet Isaiah lived around 739 B.C when King Uzziah of southern Judah died.

During his reign, the country had become very prosperous and strong.

Towards the end of his life though, he became prideful.

God struck him with leprosy and he died a tragic death, which caused a lot of fear and terror in people.

People of the country were also very sinful and morally corrupt.

All in all, the year that King Uzziah died was a dark time.

Now, look at verse 1b.

“...I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.”

In that dark and hopeless year, Isaiah saw the Lord in the temple.

He was high and exalted, seated on a throne as the King of kings with the long train of His robe filling the temple!

With king Uzziah’s death, Isaiah thought that the throne of Judah’s king was empty and dwindling.

With an empty throne, he feared that the country would become too weak to survive the surrounding superpower nations’ threats.

However, the Lord God was the real heavenly King seated on the throne, ruling the whole earth.

At the temple, God revealed Himself to Isaiah as the epitome of glory and majesty.

It was the exact image of God described in 1 Timothy 6:15b-16, “God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.”

This is who our God is and the God whom Isaiah encountered at the temple.

He is the glorious king who lives in unapproachable light!

There is absolutely no one as high and honourable as He is.

There is none like Him.

No one can easily dare to meet Him, as He is the King.

His glory and majesty far surpasses that of any worldly king or royal authority.

Thus, one cannot consider it lightly to approach God–His Majesty, the King and the Lord.

It is an utmost honour and privilege to get to meet the God of glory on the throne.

Look at verse 2.

“Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.”

These angels covered their faces and their feet before God, indicating that they feared and respected God.

Even holy angels could not stand before the Lord who is tremendously glorious and honorable.

The Lord was being praised by these holy angels.

God, as the King of kings and Lord of lords, deserves such honour and reverence.

Now let’s read verse 3.

“And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

What were the seraphim doing?

They were praising God together:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

They repeated Holy 3 times to emphasize God’s holiness.

The meaning of ‘holy’ is to be ‘set apart.’

God is the highest, the purest and the most glorious King who is set apart from the rest.

He stands out and His power and perfection can be compared to none!

He is sovereign and His dominance sets Himself apart from all His creations and all His subjects.

The angels praised God’s holy quality with all their hearts.

Isaiah mistakenly thought that the Lord’s rule was limited to only Israel.

Now that king Uzziah died, Isaiah feared that God’s glory and power was damaged and diminished.

However, the Lord of Israel reigned over the whole world and all the universe!

God’s sovereignty and power were still intact.

His glory was not harmed at all.

One cannot fathom how glorious and how pure He is!

He is set apart from all worldly things, as the majestic and sovereign ruler who is dominating.

It is our holy God on a throne who ultimately reigns!

And the angels also praised that the whole earth is full of His glory!

As God is the King of kings who is holy and outstanding, His reign and glory fills the whole earth.

There is not an area where God’s glory does not reach.

All the creatures ought to fear God, respect God, and worship God wholeheartedly.

When we look at world history, the leaders of superpower nations and strong dictators were ruling the world just because they possessed powerful weapons and armies.

However, the Lord our God is enthroned over them.

He is managing a multitude of angels who are heavenly soldiers.

Once, the king of Assyria besieged Judah with an intimidating number of soldiers.

They insulted Israel and ridiculed the living God.

King Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, the heavenly King.

The Lord listened to his prayer and sent angels and killed 185,000 enemy soldiers (Isa 37:36).

The Lord revealed His glory and power mightily.

Once, prophet Elisha enabled his servant to see the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around him (2Ki 6:17).

Even now, God’s glory is everywhere and on all of us!

God’s glory is all around and we are subject to His glorious rule and His sovereignty.

Our God is on a throne as the One who ultimately reigns!

The whole earth without any exception is full of His glory, that is filling every corner of our house, our church, our work and everywhere!

We cannot ignore it or escape from it.

God our King watches over us and rules over this world with His holiness and His glory.

The problem is we do not see that, because we are spiritually blind, due to our sins.

May God open our spiritual eyes to see His glory during this conference.

Then we can sing and praise God saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Part 2. Your guilt is taken away, your sin atoned for (4-8).

Look at verse 4.

“At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.”

As the seraphim were praising God, the sound of their voices shook the temple.

What was Isaiah’s reaction?

Look at verse 5.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Upon seeing the holy God and His glory, Isaiah was terrified.

He felt that he was too sinful and unclean to see the glorious God.

When Isaiah saw God, he realized his uncleanness and he initially thought that he would be punished and killed.

What happened to Isaiah?

Look at verses 6-7.

“Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

God sent one of the seraphim to Isaiah with a live coal.

Would God burn Isaiah to death with that live coal?

To his surprise, the seraph touched Isaiah’s mouth with a live coal and proclaimed, “your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Wow! That live coal was not for burning Isaiah to death! Rather, by His grace, God cleansed Isaiah and sanctified him!

He used His refiner’s fire to burn away Isaiah’s sin.

He purified and sanctified him to make him a holy vessel to bear the holy word of God.

As we gathered here at this conference to see God’s glory, we first need to deeply realize that we are miserable sinners before God.

Let us cry out to Him like Isaiah! “Lord, I am a person of unclean lips and heart.”

Then God will accept us as we are and make us clean and pure to serve Him humbly.

Now look at verse 8a.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

Our God has a specific purpose and commission for His people whose sins and guilt are atoned for.

God has a vision to ‘send’ each of His people to reveal His glory.
He was openly recruiting Isaiah!

Look at verse 8b.

“And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

God’s salvation and His glory gave Isaiah confidence that He could and must serve God!

He was not ashamed any more.

He could now boldly respond to God’s calling saying, “Me! Me! Send me!”

Our God is looking for someone to send, someone who will go for Him!

Before meeting Jesus in my life, I never had confidence that I could be the one God would send.

Growing up in Korea, I was very shy and introverted and never really good at anything.

Whenever some kids at school saw me talking so timidly and not participating in any sports, they made fun of me saying that I’m like a girl.

That hurt my feelings a lot.

Such lack of confidence in my own masculinity led me to doubts and shame, which somehow turned into a sin of same sex attraction.

Whenever such wicked feelings occurred in me, I was so ashamed and scared that God would punish me.

I thought I’d never be able to marry anyone to live a happy normal life in the future.

I hid my sinful tendencies and incompetent feelings and just acted like a good Christian outwardly.

I felt like a big hypocrite.

Deep down in my mind, I was confused and anxious.

Why can’t I be like other typical guys?

Why isn’t there anything I seem to be good at?

I constantly compared myself to others and fell into an inferiority complex.

I felt that my life was always floating around somewhere in-between.

I was not a true Christian nor a non Christian, not a typical boy nor a girl, not a typical UBF 2nd gen nor a non UBF 2nd gen, not a typical Korean nor a typical Canadian.

I felt like I was nobody and I was not good for anything.

Like Isaiah, deep down I cried, “Woe to me! I am ruined.”

But God did not leave me alone.

After graduating from high school in Korea, He sent me to Toledo UBF in the US where Jesus met me personally.

Due to my sins, I was supposed to be burned by thousands of burning live coals.

But Jesus took my guilt away and freed me based on Romans 8:1-2, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

Instead of punishing me for my sins, Jesus cleansed me and raised me as a campus shepherd.

Afterwards, He sent me to Edmonton, Canada to pioneer the University of Alberta.

There, He trained me as a messenger, a Bible teacher and a chapter director.

Jesus made me a new man.

He revealed His glory over my life and cleansed all my guilt and sins away with His live coal (His precious blood)!

Despite my sinful inclinations and failures, Jesus faithfully and miraculously worked in my life over the years.

I’ve been married to a beautiful wife, missionary Esther for 14 years and God granted us 2 precious children.

God made me a husband and a father, a real happy and confident man I never felt I could become!

God transformed a timid and incompetent sinner like me into a missionary and a messenger of His word at this ISBC.

How is this possible?

It can only be explained by God’s grace and His glory!

Praise God!

No matter how dark and impossible our lives seem to be, our God is always seated on a throne as our King.

His sovereignty and His glory are never affected or worn out by what’s going on in this world or by our sins!

Unlike many things in this world that are subject to change, God’s sovereignty and Jesus’ glory do not change!

Once God’s glory filled Isaiah’s heart, Isaiah’s life had totally changed.

He was not just prophesying harsh judgmental messages but the Good News, the glory of Immanuel Jesus. (Isa 7:14)

He even prophesied about Jesus’ mission and foresaw His wounds and His death on the cross by which we are healed! (Isa 53:5)

Likewise, God’s glory enables us to witness Jesus’ glory that surrounds us and heals us.

This earth is filled with many problems, darkness and sins.

But through this ISBC, our holy God will show us that the whole earth is full of His glory!

This conference will help us see God’s glory through Jesus Christ (Jn 12:41).

Jesus is inviting us to personally encounter our holy God, our King!

May God bless us to encounter His glory and visualize and internalize Jesus’ glory personally through this conference!

온 땅에 그의 영광이 충만하도다

이사야 6:1-8; 요절: 3

“그들이 서로 불러 이르되 거룩하다 거룩하다 거룩하다 만군의 여호와여; 온 땅에 그의 영광이 충만하도다.”

'하나님의 영광'이라는 주제로 역사적인 2023 ISBC를 주관하신 하나님을 찬양합니다!

이것이 실제로 일어나고 있다는 것을 믿기 어렵습니다! 그리고 우리는 모두 직접 여기에 있습니다!

지난 2018년 ISBC 이후 우리의 삶은 상상할 수 없는 많은 변화를 겪었습니다.

Covid로 인해 우리는 여행을 할 수 없었습니다.

Covid 동안 어디에 제일 가보고 싶었습니까?

저는 대면 여름 성경 수양회를 갈망했습니다!

이번 여름, 드디어 이번 ISBC를 통해 흥미진진한 왕실 초청을 받았습니다.

우리가 함께 모여 거룩하신 하나님을 만나고 그분의 영광을 볼 때입니다!

오늘 밤 우리는 하나님께서 성전안에 있던 선지자 이사야에게 어떻게 자신의 영광을 나타내셨는지 볼 것입니다.

바로 이 하나님께서 오늘 밤 그분을 만나도록 우리 각자를 진심으로 초대하고 계십니다.

하나님께서 우리의 영적인 눈을 열어주셔서 그분의 영광을 보고, 그분의 용서를 경험하고, 그분의 영광스러운 부르심에 응답하기를 바랍니다!

1부. 거룩하다 거룩하다 거룩하다 그의 영광이 온 땅에 충만하도다(1-3).

1절 상반절을 보십시오.

“웃시야 왕이 죽던 해에...”

선지자 이사야는 유다의 웃시야 왕이 죽었던 BC 739년경에 살았습니다.

그의 통치 기간 동안 나라는 매우 번영하고 강해졌습니다.

하지만 인생이 끝날 무렵 그는 교만해졌습니다.

하나님은 그를 문둥병으로 치셨고 그는 비극적인 죽음을 맞이하여 사람들에게 많은 두려움과 공포를 불러일으켰습니다.

그 나라 사람들 역시 매우 죄 많고 도덕적으로 타락했습니다.

대체로 웃시야 왕이 죽던 해는 암흑기였습니다.

자, 1절 하반절을 보십시오.

“... 내가 본즉 주께서 높이들린 보좌에 앉으셨는데 그 옷자락은 성전에 가득하였고.”

그 어둡고 절망적인 해에 이사야는 성전에서 주님을 보았습니다.

그분은 높으시고 존귀하시며 긴 옷자락이 성전을 가득 채우는 만왕의 왕으로 보좌에 앉으셨습니다!

웃시야 왕이 죽자 이사야는 유다 왕의 보좌가 비어 있고 약해지고 있다고 생각했습니다.

그는 빈 왕좌로 인해 주변 초강대국의 위협에서 살아남기에는 국가가 너무 약해질 것을 두려워했습니다.

그러나 주 하나님은 보좌에 앉아 온 땅을 통치하시는 진정한 하늘의 왕이셨습니다.

성전에서 하나님께서는 영광과 위엄의 그 자체로서 이사야에게 자신을 계시하셨습니다.

이 하나님의 이미지는 디모데전서 6장 15b-16절에 묘사되었습니다. “복을 받고 홀로 되신 하나님이시요 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주시요. 홀로 죽지 아니하시고 접근할 수 없는 빛에 거하시나니 그에게 영예와 권능이 영원토록 있을지어다. 아멘."

바로 이 하나님이 우리의 하나님이시요 이사야가 성전에서 만난 하나님이십니다.

접근할 수 없는 빛 가운데 거하시는 영광의 왕이십니다!

그분만큼 높고 존귀한 존재는 절대 없습니다.

그와 같은 사람은 아무도 없습니다.

그 누구도 감히 대적할 수 없습니다. 그는 왕이시기 때문입니다.

그의 영광과 위엄은 세상의 어떤 왕이나 왕권을 능가합니다.

그러므로 왕 이시며 주이신 하나님께 다가가는 것을 가볍게 여겨서는 안 됩니다.

보좌에 계신 영광의 하나님을 만나는 것은 최고의 영예이자 특권입니다.

2절을 보십시오.

“그 위에 스랍들이 있으니 각각 여섯 날개가 있어 두 날개로는 그 얼굴을 가리었고 그 둘로는 그 발을 가리었고 그 둘로는 날더라.”

이 천사들은 하나님 앞에서 얼굴과 발을 가림으로 하나님을 두려워하고 경외함을 나타냈습니다.

지극히 영광스럽고 존귀하신 주님 앞에 거룩한 천사들도 설 수 없습니다.

주님은 이 거룩한 천사들에게 찬양을 받고 계셨습니다.

만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주이신 하나님은 그러한 존귀와 영광을 받기에 합당하십니다.

이제 3절을 읽겠습니다.

“그들이 서로 불러 이르되 거룩하다 거룩하다 거룩하다 만군의 여호와여 온 땅에 그의 영광이 충만하도다.”

천사들은 무엇을 하고 있었습니까?

그들은 함께 하나님을 찬양했습니다.

“거룩하다 거룩하다 거룩하다 만군의 여호와여. 온 땅에 그의 영광이 충만하도다!”

그들은 하나님의 거룩하심을 강조하기 위해 거룩함을 3번 반복했습니다.

'거룩하다'는 뜻은 '구별되다'입니다.

하나님은 나머지와 구별된 가장 높고 가장 순결하고 가장 영광스러운 왕이십니다.

그분은 뛰어나시며 그분의 능력과 완전하심은 누구와도 비교할 수 없습니다!

그분은 주권자이시며 그분의 통치는 그분 자신을 그분의 모든 피조물과 모든 신하들로부터 구별시킵니다.

천사들은 온 마음을 다해 하나님의 거룩하심을 찬양했습니다.

이사야는 여호와의 통치가 이스라엘에만 국한되어 있다고 잘못 생각했습니다.

웃시야 왕이 죽자 이사야는 하나님의 영광과 권능이 손상되고 약해지는 것을 두려워했습니다.

그러나 이스라엘의 주님은 온 세상과 온 우주를 다스리셨습니다!

하나님의 주권과 능력은 여전히 온전했습니다.

그의 영광은 조금도 손상되지 않았습니다.

그분이 얼마나 영광스럽고 순결하신지 아무도 측량할 수 없습니다!

장엄하고 주권적인 통치자로서 지배하시는 하나님은 세상의 모든 것들과 구별됩니다.

궁극적으로 통치하시는 분은 보좌에 계신 거룩하신 우리 하나님이십니다!

그리고 천사들도 그의 영광이 온 땅에 충만하다고 찬양했습니다!

하나님은 거룩하시고 탁월하신 만왕의 왕이시므로 그의 통치와 영광이 온 땅에 충만합니다.

하나님의 영광이 닿지 않는 곳이 없습니다.

모든 피조물은 마땅히 하나님을 두려워하고 경외하며 전심으로 하나님을 경배해야 합니다.

세계사를 보면 강대국의 지도자들과 강력한 독재자들이 강력한 무기와 군대를 가졌다는 이유만으로 세계를 지배하고 있었습니다.

그러나 우리 하나님 여호와께서 그들 위에 좌정하고 계십니다.

그는 수많은 천군 천사들을 거느리십니다..

한번은 앗수르 왕이 위협적인 수의 군사를 이끌고 유다를 포위했습니다.

그들은 이스라엘을 모욕하고 살아 계신 하나님을 비웃었습니다.

히스기야 왕은 하늘의 왕이신 여호와께 기도했습니다.

여호와께서 그의 기도를 들으시고 천사들을 보내어 적군 185,000명을 죽이셨습니다(사 37:36).

주님께서는 당신의 영광과 능력을 강력하게 나타내셨습니다.

한번은 선지자 엘리사가 그의 사환에게 불말과 불병거가 가득한 산을 둘러보게 하였습니다(왕하 6:17).

지금도 하나님의 영광은 어디에나 있고 우리 모두의 위에 있습니다!

하나님의 영광이 도처에 있고 우리는 그분의 영광스러운 통치와 주권에 속합니다.

우리 하나님은 궁극적으로 통치하시는 분으로서 보좌에 계십니다!

온 땅은 조금의 예외도 없이 우리 집과 교회와 일터 구석구석을 채우고 있는 그분의 영광으로 가득 차 있습니다!

우리는 그것을 무시하거나 피할 수 없습니다.

우리의 왕이신 하나님은 거룩함과 영광으로 우리를 지키시며 이 세상을 다스리십니다.

문제는 우리가 죄로 인해 영적으로 눈이 멀었기 때문에 그것을 보지 못한다는 것입니다.

이 수양회 동안 하나님께서 우리의 영적인 눈을 열어 하나님의 영광을 보게 하시기를 바랍니다.

그럴 때 우리는 “거룩하다 거룩하다 거룩하다 만군의 여호와여. 온 땅에 그의 영광이 충만하도다” 노래하며 찬양할 수 있습니다

2부. 당신의 허물이 제거되고, 당신의 죄가 사해졌습니다(4-8).

4절을 보십시오.

“그들의 소리에 문설주와 문지방이 흔들리고 성전에 연기가 가득하더라.”

천사들이 하나님을 찬송할 때에 그들의 음성이 성전을 진동시켰습니다.

이사야의 반응은 어떠했습니까?

5절을 보십시오.

그때에 내가 말하되 “화로다 나여!!" “나는 망하게 되었도다! 나는 입술이 부정한 사람이요 입술이 부정한 백성 중에 거하면서 만군의 여호와이신 왕을 뵈었음이로다.”

거룩하신 하나님과 그의 영광을 보고 이사야는 겁에 질렸습니다.

그는 자신이 너무 죄가 많고 깨끗하지 못하여 영광스러운 하나님을 볼 수 없다고 느꼈습니다.

이사야는 하나님을 보았을 때 자신의 부정함을 깨닫고 처음에는 자신이 벌을 받고 죽임을 당할 것이라고 생각했습니다.

이사야에게 무슨 일이 일어났습니까?

6-7절을 보십시오.

“그 때에 스랍 중의 하나가 부젓가락으로 제단에서 집은 바 핀 숯을 손에 가지고 내게로 날아와서 그것을 가지고 내 입을 만지며 이르되 보라 이것이 네 입술에 닿았으니 네 허물이 제하여졌고 네 죄가 사하여졌느니라”

하나님은 천사들 중의 하나를 핀 숯불과 함께 이사야에게 보내셨습니다.

하나님이 그 숯불로 이사야를 불살라 죽게 하실까요?

놀랍게도 천사는 핀 숯불을 이사야의 입에 대고 “네 악이 제하여졌고 네 죄가 사하여졌느니라”고 외쳤습니다.

우와! 그 숯불은 이사야를 불살라 죽이기 위한 것이 아니었습니다! 오히려 하나님은 은혜로 이사야를 깨끗하게 하시고 거룩하게 하셨습니다!

그분은 연단자의 불을 사용하여 이사야의 죄를 불태우셨습니다.

정결케 하시고 거룩하게 하사 하나님의 거룩한 말씀을 담는 거룩한 그릇으로 삼으셨습니다.

하나님의 영광을 보기 위해 이 자리에 모인 우리는 먼저 우리가 하나님 앞에 비참한 죄인이라는 사실을 깊이 깨달아야 합니다.

이사야처럼 하나님께 부르짖어야 합니다! “주님, 저는 입술과 마음이 부정한 사람입니다.”

그러면 하나님께서 우리를 있는 그대로 받아주시고 깨끗하고 순결하게 하셔서 겸손히 하나님을 섬기게 하실 것입니다.

이제 8절 상반절을 보십시오.

“그 때에 내가 들으니 여호와의 음성이 이르시되 내가 누구를 보내리요? 그리고 누가 우리를 위해 갈꼬?”

우리 하나님은 죄와 허물이 속죄된 그분의 백성을 위한 특별한 목적과 임무를 가지고 계십니다.

하나님은 그분의 영광을 나타내기 위해 그분의 백성 하나 하나를 '내보낼' 비전을 갖고 계십니다.

그는 공개적으로 이사야를 모집하고 있었습니다!

8절 하반절을 보십시오.

“내가 여기 있나이다. 나를 보내소서!”

하나님의 구원과 영광은 이사야에게 그가 하나님을 섬길 수 있고 섬겨야 한다는 확신을 주었습니다!

그는 더 이상 부끄러워하지 않았습니다.

그는 이제 “저요! 저요! 저를 보내소서!"하며 담대하게 하나님의 부르심에 응답할 수 있었습니다.

우리 하나님은 보낼 사람, 그분을 위해 갈 사람을 찾고 계십니다!

제 삶에서 예수님을 만나기 전에는 제가 하나님이 보내실 사람이 될 수 있다는 확신이 없었습니다.

한국에서 자라면서 저는 수줍음이 많고 내성적이었고 어떤 것도 잘하지 못했습니다.

학교에서 아이들이 내가 말투가 너무 소심하고 운동도 안 하는 걸 보고 여자애 같다고 놀리곤 했습니다.

그게 제 감정을 많이 상하게 했습니다.

제 자신의 남자으로서의 이러한 자신감 부족은 저를 의심과 수치심으로 이끌었고, 그것은 다시 동성에게 끌리는 죄로 바뀌었습니다.

그런 악한 마음이 생길 때마다 하나님이 저를 벌하실까 봐 너무 부끄럽고 두려웠습니다.

저는 앞으로 어느 누구와도 결혼해서 행복하고 정상적인 삶을 살 수 없을 거라고 생각했습니다.

저는 제 죄악된 성향과 무능력한 감정을 숨기고 겉으로 보기에 착한 그리스도인답게 행동했습니다.

제 자신이 큰 위선자처럼 느껴졌습니다.

마음 속 깊은 곳에서 저는 혼란스럽고 불안했습니다.

나는 왜 다른 평범한 남자들처럼 될 수 없는가?

내가 잘하는 것이 없는 것 같은 이유는 무엇일까?

남과 끊임없이 비교하며 열등감에 빠졌습니다.

저는 제 인생이 항상 어느 곳 중간 어디쯤에 떠돌고 있다고 느꼈습니다.

저는 진정한 기독교인도 비기독교인도 아니었고, 전형적인 소년도 소녀도 아니었고, 전형적인 UBF 2세도 아니고, 비 UBF 2세도 아니고, 전형적인 한국인도 아니고, 전형적인 캐나다인도 아니었습니다.

저는 제가 아무 것도 아닌 것 같고 아무 소용이 없는 것 같았습니다.

이사야처럼 저는 속으로 외쳤습니다. "화로다 나여! 망하게 되었도다.”

그러나 하나님은 저를 혼자 두지 않으셨습니다.

한국에서 고등학교를 졸업한 후 미국 톨레도 UBF로 보내주셨고 그곳에서 예수님께서 저를 직접 만나주셨습니다.

제 죄로 인해 저는 수천 개의 활활 타는 숯불에 타야 했습니다.

그러나 예수님께서 로마서 8장 1-2절 “그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니 이는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 너희를 죄와 사망의 법에서 자유케 하였음이라” 말씀으로 제 죄를 사하시고 저를 해방시켜 주셨습니다.

예수님은 저의 죄를 벌하시는 대신 저를 깨끗하게 하시고 캠퍼스 목자로 키우셨습니다.

그 후 저를 캐나다 에드먼턴으로 보내셔서 앨버타 대학을 개척하게 하셨습니다.

그곳에서 그는 저를 주일 말씀 강사요, 성경 선생 및 지부 책임자로 훈련했습니다.

예수님은 저를 새 사람으로 만드셨습니다.

하나님은 제 삶가운데 그분의 영광을 나타내셨고 그분의 활활 타오르는 숯(그분의 보혈)으로 저의 모든 죄와 잘못을 깨끗이 씻으셨습니다!

저의 죄악된 성향과 많은 실패들에도 불구하고, 예수님은 여러 해 동안 제 삶에서 신실하고 기적적으로 역사하셨습니다.

저는 아름다운 아내 에스더 선교사와 결혼한 지 14년이 되었고 하나님께서 귀한 두 자녀를 주셨습니다.

하나님은 저를 남편이자 아버지로 만드셨고, 제가 결코 될 수 있다고 생각하지 못했던 정말 행복하고 자신감 있는 사람이 되게하셨습니다!

하나님께서는 저와 같이 소심하고 무능한 죄인을 선교사요, 이번 수양회에서 말씀 강사로 변화시켜 주셨습니다.

이것이 어떻게 가능합니까?

그것은 오직 하나님의 은혜와 그분의 영광으로 설명될 수 있습니다!

하나님을 찬양합니다!

우리의 삶이 아무리 어둡고 불가능해 보일지라도 우리 하나님은 언제나 우리의 왕으로 보좌에 앉아 계십니다.

그분의 주권과 그분의 영광은 이 세상에서 일어나는 일이나 우리들의 죄로 인해 결코 영향을 받거나 쇠퇴하지 않습니다!

변할 수 있는 이 세상의 많은 것들과 달리 하나님의 주권과 예수님의 영광은 변하지 않습니다!

하나님의 영광이 이사야의 마음을 가득 채우자 이사야의 삶은 완전히 달라졌습니다.

그는 단지 가혹한 심판의 메시지를 예언한 것뿐만 아니라 임마누엘 예수님의 영광인 기쁜 소식을 예언하였습니다. (사 7:14)

그는 심지어 예수님의 사명에 대해 예언했고 우리의 상처를 치유하기 위한 그분의 상처와 십자가에서의 죽음을 예견했습니다! (사 53:5)

이처럼 하나님의 영광은 우리를 감싸고 치유하시는 예수님의 영광을 목격하게 합니다.

이 땅은 많은 문제들과 어둠과 죄로 가득 차 있습니다.

그러나 이번 수양회를 통해 거룩하신 우리 하나님께서 온 땅에 그분의 영광이 충만함을 보여주실 것입니다!

이 수양회는 우리에게 예수 그리스도를 통해 하나님의 영광을 보게 해줄 것입니다(요 12:41).

예수님은 우리의 거룩하신 하나님, 우리의 왕을 개인적으로 만나도록 우리를 초대하고 계십니다!

하나니께서 이번 수양회를 통해 저희가 하나님의 영광을 접하고 예수님의 영광을 보고 내면에 간직할 수 있도록 축복하시기를 기도합니다!
